Summer Eights 2024: Wednesday 22nd May - Saturday 25th May
Hello all,
We’d like to welcome all alumni to join us back on the banks of the Isis for 2024’s instalment of Summer Eights. Specifically, there is a planned 50-year reunion for members of the 1973-75 crews so if you fall into that bracket and are available it will be a great opportunity to reconnect with your crewmates. Regardless of year, however, it would be great to see as many people as possible returning for (hopefully) some great weather and even better results.
In addition to general spectating, we would like to encourage alumni to sign up for the organised events of Summer Eights weekend. Two links for the sign up are available below, one for general alumni and one for the 50th reunion. The itinerary for the two days is as follows:
Saturday 25th May
Summer VIII's Racing (14:00 - 18:00)
All alumni are invited to take a stroll down to Univ Boathouse and join us in cheering on our crews as they race. Refreshments will be available at the Boathouse.
UCBC Drinks Reception (19:30 - 20:00)
Join current students, alumni, and friends of the boat club in the Radcliffe Quad for a full club drinks reception. Crew photos will take place here, in addition to a full club photo.
Summer VIII's Dinner (20:00 - 22:30)
The traditional Summer VIII's celebrations will continue with a three-course dinner in Univ Hall, accompanied by speeches and accolades from the past.
Sunday 26th May
College Brunch (11:30 - 12:30)
Alumni are invited to join current students for an informal Sunday brunch in Hall to fuel up for an afternoon of crew paddles and racing at Martlet Regatta!
Martlet Regatta (13:00 - 17:00)
Join current members and alumni of UCBC at Univ Boathouse for our inaugural 'Martlet Regatta'. This will be a family-friendly afternoon which will include an opportunity to race against current student eights or casually paddle with old team mates, in addition to a BBQ, children's entertainment, and the opportunity to showcase Univ Boathouse to your loved ones. Further information will be shared in due course with all those who register interest in Martlet Regatta on the ticketing page.
